Potęga awangardy

Muzeum Narodowe w Krakowie zorganizowało wystawę "Potęga awangardy" z okazji stulecia tego ruchu. W 2016 roku, w Palais des Beaux Arts w Brukseli pokazana została wystawa "The Power of Avant-Garde. Now and then", której kuratorem jest niemiecki historyk sztuki Ulrich Bischoff. Ideą jest konfrontacja sztuki awangardowej z pierwszej połowy XX wieku ze sztuką obecnych czasów. Artysta współczesny, w swoim komentarzu, tłumaczy wybór ważnego dla niego, wybitnego działa z historii awangardy. Komentarze te są pokazane w katalogu. Przytaczane są także inspiracje z literatury i poezji. Prace prowadzą ze sobą dialog, uzupełniają się, umożliwiają uświadomienie sobie rozmaitych aspektów artystycznych problemów.
Wystawa krakowska modyfikuje koncepcję brukselską. Nowy scenariusz wzbogacony został o niemal 50 prac polskich artystów. Reprezentują oni rozmaite tendencje sztuki awangardowej: ekspresjonizm, surrealizm, modernizm, konstruktywizm oraz te nowsze: konceptualizm czy minimalizm. Powstała próba pokazania granic zasięgu sztuki awangardowej dwudziestego wieku.
Wystawa "The Power of the Avant-Garde" gromadzi dzieła wielkich i klasycznych już dla historii sztuki artystów, którym towarzyszą prace współczesne, autorstwa Davida Claerbouta, Williama Kentridge’a i Seana Scully. Tym samym pojawia się pytania o aktualność awangardy, o inspiracje i znaczenia w niej odnajdywane, a także jej siłę oddziaływania. Wystawa uzupełniona jest o prace polskich artystów, także współczesnych, jak:  Monika Sosnowska czy Jacek Sroka.


The Power of the Avant-Garde
The National Museum in Krakow housed the exhibition The Power of the Avant-Garde on the centenary of this movement. In 2016, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels showed the exhibition The Power of Avant-Garde. Now and then, curated by the German art historian Ulrich Bischoff. The main idea was to confront the avant-garde art of the first half of the 20th century with the art of the present. Contemporary artists, in their commentaries, explain why they chose particular outstanding works from the history of the avant-garde, of special significance to them. These commentaries are featured in the catalogue. There are also references to literature and poetry. Works engage in a dialogue, complement one another, make readers realise different aspects of artistic problems.
The Krakow exhibition was a modification to the Brussels concept. A new scenario was enriched with nearly 50 works by Polish artists representing various avant-garde art trends: expressionism, surrealism, modernism, constructivism and the latest ones: conceptualism and minimalism. It was an attempt at showing the boundaries of the scope of the 20th-century avant-garde art.
The exhibition The Power of the Avant-Garde features the works by eminent and already classic artists in the history of art, accompanied by contemporary works by David Claerbout, William Kentridge and Sean Scully. Thus question arise about the topicality of the avant-garde, the avant-garde as a source of inspiration and meanings, and its power of influence. The exhibition is complemented by the works of Polish artists, also the contemporary ones including Monika Sosnowska and Jacek Sroka.
